Equity-Minded Online Course Design Checklist

In each module we offered reflection questions to keep at the forefront as you design and deliver your courses. Here is a complete list of those questions:
  • Are there specific ways my course content could include culturally relevant material, such as images, quotes, and featured scholars/works?
  • Does my course content serve as a mirror for each and every one of my students (a reflection of their life) or a window (a view into a life that does not look like theirs)?
  • What “intrusive” communication practices can I include during major benchmarks in the semester, starting with week zero?
  • How can I assess whether I am effectively relating to and reaching all of my students, starting in week one and throughout the course?
  • How can I demonstrate awareness of and sensitivity to the external pressures marginalized students face while taking my course, starting in week one and throughout the course?
  • Can I identify course design and delivery practices that are grounded in my own positionality, and make them more equitable?
